About me

I'm Kai Thorsrud, living on the enchanting island of Jeløy, approximately 60 kilometers south of Oslo, Norway. I share this slice of paradise with my daughter and our loyal British Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Life on Jeløy: Norway's hidden treasure

Jeløy offers a rare harmony between accessible urban amenities and pristine natural landscapes. Much of the island is designated as protected nature reserve, harboring Norway's richest biodiversity in a relatively compact area.

The magic of primeval forests

The ancient forests of Jeløy stand in stark contrast to the commercial timber plantations that dominate much of Scandinavia. These primeval woodlands possess a palpable vitality ecosystems that have evolved organically over centuries, creating a tapestry of life that feels genuinely wild and authentic.

Walking through these forests reveals a profound difference: the diversity of species, the tangle of fallen trees nurturing new growth, and the sense of entering a living organism rather than just a collection of trees.

I log between 3-5k kilometers annually, exploring this island's trails and hidden corners. If you're ever in the area and want to experience Jeløy's wonders firsthand, reach out I'd be delighted to guide you through my favorite spots and share the unique magic of this place I call home.

Where the digital meets the natural, and curiosity knows no bounds.
